The story of Sam Lee, an Australian entrepreneur that is pioneering the blockchain initiative

Mr Sam Lee is the founder and CEO of Blockchain Global Limited, a leading multinational enterprise which focuses on the commercialisation of blockchain technology through international blockchain investments, blockchain innovation hubs, and network infrastructure services; through its offices in Australia, the U.S., Malaysia, China, Switzerland and Japan. Blockchain Global has invested more than USD $300 million in 80 blockchain-enabled projects. The company's corporate accelerator program has made over a dozen investments in successful startups leveraging Blockchain Technology.

 

With Blockchain Technology poised to dis-intermediate middlemen on a global scale, Sam established the Distributed Group, a blockchain venture platform that connects corporates,investors and entrepreneurs through a network of +100 DLT pioneers that apply knowledge to create value at all stages, (Ideation, Proof of Concept and Production), with the aim to ultimately reduce friction, fraud and cost for any company in any industry that interfaces with technology.As an industry leader, Sam founded the Blockchain Centre, (world’s first Blockchain KnowledgeHub) and Distributed Technologies Institute. He is a frequent speaker, having delivered presentations as a subject matter expert at numerous including the UN, Blockchain Summits, DLT Conferences and Governance Institute Forums among others and been interviewed on CNN Money, CNBC, BBC, Sky News and RT.

 

In 2014, Mr. Lee founded Blockchain Centre, the world’s first non-profit innovation hub dedicated to promoting blockchain education and awareness. Blockchain Centre has partnered with relevant government stakeholders in Australia, China, Russia, Lithuania, the U.S. and UAE; leading to the establishment of physical blockchain technology knowledge hubs across a footprint of 10 cities’. Lee is a prominent member of the industry, with multiple speaking engagements and keynote addresses at international conferences, such as the World Economic Forum, Future Investment Initiative and APAC Blockchain.

 

Mr Lee is also the co-founder of Bitcoin Group and has a background as a Strategy Director in the financial services outside Australia and digital media industry. Mr Lee has performed the role of an IT Enterprise strategy consultant, specialising in project planning and execution, servicing companies such as Renault, Heinz, Total S.A and Cricket Australia. Mr Lee has established himself as a Bitcoin industry leader as one of the founding organisers of the Melbourne Bitcoin Meetup. He has worked with the community to realise initiatives such as the Melbourne Bitcoin Technology Center, Bitcoin Boulevard Australia and Bitcoin Buskers. With the clear goal of creating an accountable, legitimate and transparent investment vehicle, to bring Bitcoin into the mainstream, Mr Lee’s first involvement with Bitcoin, is as a Director of Millennius Pty Ltd, implementing a Bitcoin payment gateway as a website checkout option in June 2013 to become Australia’s first e-tailer to accept Bitcoin. After which, he co-founded Bitcoins Reserve, a BVI entity which operates the world’s first arbitrage fund in Hong Kong specialising in the cryptocurrency asset class.Mr Lee is responsible for the overall management of Bitcoin Group. His role in Bitcoin Group will comprise of leading and overseeing the implementation of Bitcoin Group’s long- and short-term plans in accordance with Bitcoin Group’s Operations Strategy, human resources management, risk management and overall communication management.

 

In an interview, Mr Lee has stated: “We were first to assist governments to regulate blockchain because we were lucky enough to help Australian government create the first regulation in this industry, aka the 2014 Australian tax guidance. We subsequently incubated the first blockchain listed company on the ASX with ticker DCC. This leads invitation to 50 countries and invitation to WEF and UN to talk on blockchain.  As part of our initiative, we are driving the globalisation of RMB via providing blockchain technology along one belt one road. We also work with leading chinese companies to create more liquidity and participation of global markets in their supply chain.”

 

As a major influencer in the blockchain industry, Mr Lee aims to drive the industry forward in order to create an environment for public and private partnerships with influential parties and authoritative figures, in hopes of creating a better foundation for the future of blockchain
